The Mobile Homes (Site Rules) (England) Regulations 2014
The government recently published regulations for dealing with park rules. The regulations came into effect on the 4th February 2014 and will apply to all residential parks in England. All park owners will now have to undertake certain tasks to ensure they comply with the new regulations.
Park owners must consult with residents on their parks and any qualifying residents association and agree rules for the park.
They must follow the procedure in the regulations for making park rules and amending them and use the forms specified.
Park Owners must register the park rules with the local authority, which will give them more legal status.
Park owners will have until the 3rd February 2015 to do this, if not followed they will not be able to rely on existing park rules. For example a park with a 55+ age rule today would no longer be able to be a retirement park after February 2015 unless they carry out this process correctly and register with the local council.
